Treverbyn Community Primary School Gets Better Connected
Many schools today are finding themselves either in the unpleasant situation of closing down due to dwindling student numbers, or facing the challenge of combining services with other established schools. Treverbyn was challenged with the latter, merging their communication system with the nearby nursery and associated Children’s centre workers, to create a more streamlined and cost effective operation.
The objective was to create a single phone system that linked all the separate buildings, together with enhancing the schools internal communications to the 7 individual classrooms, the Common room, kitchen and SEN room.
Alan Craig Headteacher commented, “We were tasked with arranging a central phone system that could manage calls to 3 separate areas. This involved laying new cable throughout the grounds to link the different locations and to investigate ways of handling out of hours calls and messaging. What we needed was a company who had the experience and the knowledge to identify with our problems and who could suggest practical solutions. We researched the market and found Bush Telegraph who are based in Truro”.
The school also needed a system whereby each teacher could have voicemail. This meant that no messages were ever missed and the teaching staff could maximise their time in the classroom. It was also essential that the school had a system that could route calls automatically to their required destination when reception was busy or unmanned.
Lee Russell Technical Director from Bush Telegraph said, “We were delighted to be asked to help solve the communications issues for Treverbyn and the nursery. We quickly realised the enormity of the project but due to our experience we knew exactly what was needed. To make it easy for our client to understand we broke down the components into phases, listing what was required to help solve their problems. Our ethos is to always operate in a transparent manner, working closely with our clients to minimise any unforeseen issues and to create a lasting partnership”.
Bush Telegraph produced a proposal that included a flexible and scaleable Samsung 7100 comms system, that included feature rich applications at a cost effective price. Voicemail was added to each of the teachers extensions in the staffroom, auto-attendant was programmed to re-route calls and a selection of handsets was proposed depending on the useage.
Alan Craig summarised, “Bush Telegraph grasped our requirements immediately, the consultants and engineers were very attentitive, nothing was too much trouble and they installed the new system with minimum fuss. We are really pleased with the solution, it’s effective, efficient and with their competitive lease option, the monthly payments make it very affordable. They also maintain the system for us and once installed provided some comprehensive training. I would highly recommend Bush Telegraph to other schools and businesses”.
Treverbyn Primary school will be converting to an academy in September and is looking forward to the new academic year and its new status.

Burt’s Potato Chips
Burts were the victim of their own success, in having a basic level phone system in place that was not going to take their business anywhere. They needed to move quickly and they now have a system in place to meet their growing demands and more…
At Bush Telegraph we were really excited about this project as it allowed us to provide the customer with all the aspects to continue to develop this hugely successful business. We provided a 7200 Samsung OfficeServ platform with integrated voice management services, direct dial, improved network, caller ID, cordless headsets and a converged solution which linked the system to their CRM. All of this meant that they had a system in place that supported their unique working style, which gave staff the freedom to move around, a system that could handle their increased customer base without increasing their resources and also gave them the opportunity to continue to improve sales and enhance its customer care support.
Veor Surgery
With increasing demand on the surgery’s busy switchboard, coupled with high running cost of an outdated system that provided the bare minimum of functionality, Bush was asked to come up with a solution for Veor Surgery.
We realised very quickly that the critical area that needed to be addressed, was the increasing call volumes at peak times with the varying call types such as patients, suppliers and associated organisations. We needed to make sure that the calls were directed to the appropriate departmentsdurig the surgery’s working hours, without compromising on patient care.
We provided a bespoke solution to effectively manage incoming which brought with it a fundemental change in the surgery’s working practices. Ultimately it has meant that staff, patients and suppliers are benefiting from theimproved level of service resulting from a more effective communications system, which has also made a significant positive difference to operating costs.
Westover Green Community Primary School
The school needed the ability for all teachers to be able to intercommunicate with other staff without leaving the classroom and also wanted to improve operating efficiencies, reduced costs and take advantage of technology while investing in a telephone system that would be easy to use and manage.
The challenge was to create a stable, reliable system that would meet the school’s needs in a cost effective way. Bush Telegraph implemented a solution that brought with it a safety element and it not only improved the efficiency of their systems but has saved the school money too!
